If Mayor Bloomberg were to run for President, which organization would spend the most money attempting to defeat him: DNC, RNC, NRA, PBA, or Al-Qaeda?
Gallet: Probably all the above. Although I will say that, as someone who grew up in the Midwest in a hunting family (I have a freezer full of buffalo and elk steaks at the moment), his anti-gun stance has been somewhat misconstrued. Mayor Bloomberg talks primarily about illegal guns in the city, not legally obtained hunting weapons. He says no one needs a gun in the city, and he’s right.
From a personal perspective, why would Mayor Bloomberg make a good President?
Gallet: He’s done amazing work for us in New York City. Not everyone agrees with him, but it’s difficult for anyone to say the city isn’t better off under Bloomberg. It’s only fair to share him with the rest of the Country.
If he doesn’t run, whom would you support?
Gallet: I can’t even imagine at this point. Unless there’s a positive alternative to what’s in the field so far, I will be heading to the polls with a queasy stomach.
What’s something interesting Shawnee Mission has that NYC doesn’t but should?
Gallet: Well, Shawnee Mission is right next door to Kansas City, so I would have to say that Shawnee has Old Pioneer Town, creeks full of crawdads, and just about everything a kid could want growing up. Kansas City, on the other hand is quite sophisticated with elegant shopping, world class restaurants, and a historic World War I monument shaped like a giant phallus.
